Scholarships
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) recognizes students, cadets and community members through awards and scholarships honoring achievement, leadership, service and citizenship. Explore selected opportunities and find current eligibility and application information.
Recognizing
Young Leaders
The DAR Youth Leadership Medal recognizes students in grades five to eleven who demonstrate honor, service, courage, leadership, and patriotism. Teachers, principals, and youth organization leaders may select one recipient per grade, per school, each year.
Celebrating
Good Citizens
The DAR Good Citizens Award recognizes one senior from each participating high school for dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. Selected students may also choose to enter the scholarship contest, which includes a personal statement and an essay.
Recognizing ROTC and JROTC Cadets
Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) and Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) medals recognize cadets for military and scholastic achievement, leadership, character, and patriotism. Recipients are selected by their program instructors.
Cadet Leadership Beyond ROTC
The DAR Outstanding Cadet Medal recognizes outstanding participants in military-affiliated, police, fire, or emergency medical services (EMS) cadet programs. Unit or department leaders may select one recipient each year.
Honoring Exceptional Service
The DAR Distinguished Citizen Medal recognizes individuals and groups whose honor, service, courage, leadership, and patriotism strengthen their communities. Eligible recipients include emergency and health responders, active-duty military members, veterans, and citizens who contribute exceptionally to public safety, defense, or security. Recipients are nominated by DAR chapter leadership and approved at the state level.

Scholarships
DAR offers scholarships to U.S. citizens pursuing higher education at accredited colleges and universities in the United States. Opportunities support students at different stages of study and in a wide range of academic fields. Eligibility and application requirements vary by scholarship.
