Revolutionary War Patriots Marker
Sugar Hill, Georgia
With the placement of this marker, the Suwanee Creek Chapter, NSDAR, joined communities across the country in commemorating the 250th anniversary of American independence and honoring the men and women whose service helped establish our nation. Dedicated on February 3, 2024, the marker stands within the Never Forget Garden beside the Sugar Hill Veterans Memorial on West Broad Street in Sugar Hill, Georgia, where it honors their service and preserves their legacy for future generations.
Suwannee Town Marker
Suwanee, Georgia
In November 2018, the Suwanee Creek Chapter, NSDAR, dedicated a historic marker at the site of Suwannee Town, a Muscogee (Creek) village once located along Suwanee Creek near its confluence with the Chattahoochee River.

Dedicated during Native American Heritage Month and in recognition of Gwinnett County’s bicentennial, the marker followed nearly two years of research and documentation. A special committee identified the village site on a period map and worked with local historians and representatives of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation to authenticate the location.

The marker preserves the story of Suwannee Town and acknowledges the Indigenous history of the area. It is located about three miles southwest of downtown Suwanee, near the pavilion and playground in the River Plantation neighborhood off Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.
